Be captivated by The Rocks Night Markets

The Rocks Night Markets, Sydney

The Rocks provides some of the best vantage points and installations of Vivid Sydney—that’s a given. But before you’re seduced by the bright lights and installations that make this festival famous, there’s another experience you need to have.

Throughout Vivid Sydney, The Rocks’ famous daytime markets charge on into the evening with gusto. Every Friday and Saturday night of Vivid Sydney (plus Sunday 11 June), from 6pm until 10.30pm, dozens of stallholders will proudly display an array of artisanal wares that you simply won’t find anywhere else. Come and source the perfect gift for that special someone, and have a chat with the makers behind these extraordinary hand-crafted objects.

Visit these five stallholders at The Rocks Night Markets to make your Vivid Sydney experience extra special.

For the history buff

Historical photographs of Sydney, Yesterday's Images

Historical photographs of Sydney and beyond from Yesterday’s Images

The Rocks contains as much preserved colonial history per square metre as anywhere else in Australia, so where else would you want to browse 3000-odd historic photographs depicting Australia from the 1800s through to the mid-1900s? Stall owner Chantal Sowada hand-processes the image you choose from the original negative onto quality photographic paper, ready for framing. That’s one heck of a unique gift.
